Corundum Castable
Corundum castable is high grade unshaped refractory material, widely used in high temperature industrial kilns and furnaces. The main mineral phase of corundum castable is corundum(α-Al2O3). It has high refractoriness, wear resistance and structural strength. The raw material of corundum castable is fused white corundum, or fused alumina, or brown corundum. No matter what kind of raw material is used as aggregate, different granularity of grains should be proportionally mixed, corundum coarse grains, middle grains and powders should have proper formulation, then binders and additives( silica micro powder, water reducer, anti-explosion fiber) are added into the raw material and fully tempered.
Compared with high alumina castable and mullite castable, corundum castable has higher mechanical strength and wear resistance, but its thermal shock resistance is not so good as mullite castable. When certain amount of mullite is added into raw material, thermal shock resistance of corundum castable can be improved.

Corundum Castable Properties
High crushing strength, good structural stability.
Large bulk density, corundum castable casted lining has good molten slag corrosion resistance and permeation resistance.
High wear resistance, strong solid particles, powder and high temperature gases washing resistance.
Corundum Castable Applications
Corundum castable is mainly used to cast integral linings of boilers, blast furnaces, hot blast furnaces, heating furnaces, ceramics kilns and other high temperature kilns and furnace linings. For example, corundum castable is widely used to cast liquid steel vacuum degassing equipment immersion tube outer lining, spraying metallurgy and argon blowing integral spray gun lining, electric furnace top triangle zone lining, LF furnace cover, petrochemical industry catalytic cracking reactor high temperature wear resistant lining, circulating fluidized bed and power plant boiler high temperature wear proof linings and so on.
Other refractory materials can be added into corundum to make composite corundum castable, such as chrome corundum castable, zirconia corundum castable. Chrome corundum castable is primarily used in carbon black furnace and water coal gasifier inner linings. Zirconia corundum castable is mainly used in glass kilns.
