Steel Fiber Reinforced Castable
Steel fiber reinforced castable is the kind of castable added with certain size high temperature proof steel fiber, so the casted body won’t shrink during roasting and high temperature using. Meanwhile, steel fiber reinforced castable also has higher mechanical strength, mechanical impact resistance, flexibility and thermal shock resistance. The micro crack in casted body won’t expand or extend under thermal stress or mechanical stress. Steel fiber reinforced castable includes: steel fiber reinforced high alumina castable, steel fiber reinforced alumina silica castable, steel fiber reinforced alumina magnesia castable and so on.
The shape, sectional shape, and quantity of steel fiber all have influence on reinforcement effect of steel fiber reinforced castable. Usually used steel fiber is crescent straight fiber, it increase the contact area of steel fiber and castable matrix, as well as fraction force while the workability won’t be affected. The melting temperature of different models of stainless steel fiber varies from 1400℃~1530℃.
The main function of steel fiber reinforced castable is to improve strain performance, so the lining’s flexibility, mechanical strength and thermal shock resistance are increased.

Some attentions should be paid when producing steel fiber reinforced castable.
Must choose proper high temperature alloy steel fiber and quantity during making steel fiber reinforced castable, over high ratio may have adverse affect.
When mixing, its better to add water into the castable and fully mixed first, then adding steel fiber and adequately mixed.
During vibration molding, it’s better to adopt form vibrator, so steel fiber can evenly distributed.
The Application of Steel Fiber Reinforced Castable
Steel fiber reinforced castable often used to cast industrial kilns linings and furnaces linings, which only contact with high temperature gases or solid materials, such as electric furnace roof, steel ladle cover, heating furnace top, soaking pit roof and furnace wall, heat treatment furnace lining, high temperature cyclone separator working lining, rotary cement kiln drum cooler, shaft roasting furnace inner lining, etc.
Other applications of steel fiber reinforced castable are: vessels which intermittently contact with high temperature molten materials, runners and components, such as electric furnace tapping spout, integral gunning machine, argon blowing gun, liquid iron desulfur stirrer. As in discontinuous application situations, temperature fluctuation is large, thermal stress and mechanical stress is huge, so steel fiber can reinforce thermal shock resistance and mechanical vibration resistance of the casted linings.
