Iron Ladle Description
Liquid iron ladle is the vessel used to transport iron liquid from casthouse to converter or electric arc furnace. Since there is no special smelting process, iron liquid temperature is relatively low, usually between 1300~1450℃. When charging iron liquid into iron ladle, high temperature iron liquid will have great washing abrasion and strong thermal shock to ladle lining refractory, great thermal stress will also be generated. During storing and delivering iron liquid, ladle lining suffers liquid iron and slag chemical corrosion, as well as air oxidization. During tapping, iron liquid also has great erosive wear and high temperature oxidization to lining refractory. When iron ladle is empty, inner lining will suffer drastic temperature drop and air oxidation. As the charging-storing-discharging process cycles over and over again, ladle lining refractory repeatedly suffers drastic cooling and heating, slag iron corrosion, air oxidization and liquid iron washing-out.
Iron Ladle Castable Introduction
Iron ladle castable adopts high alumina refractory and SiC as main raw material, refractory cement as binder. Iron ladle Al2O3-SiC-C castable is widely used to cast all types of iron ladle integral working lining, it has excellent impaction resistance, corrosion resistance, permeation resistance, abrasion resistance and so on.
Iron Ladle Castable Characteristics
Compared with brickwork lining, liquid iron ladle castable has higher density and strength, better integrity, which make it have good erosion resistance and washing resistance to high temperature iron liquid and slag.
Small linear change rate, no shrinkage at working temperature, little slag accretion at tapping nozzle.
Iron ladle castable has good workability and flowability, the casting time is easy to control, can meet different season construction requirement.
Iron ladle castable can meet quick roasting requirement, has relatively high performance price ratio.
Standard clay bricks’ service life is 200 times, high alumina bricks’ service life is about 300~400 times, high alumina silicon carbide bricks’ service life can be more than 800 times, after patching and maintenance, service life can reach to more than 1500 times. The application of high grade refractory materials such as Al2O3-SiC-C castable can greatly prolong the service life of iron ladle lining.
