Corundum Castable Refractory Introduction
Corundum castable refractory is also called adamant castable, it is a kind of unshaped refractory which contains at least 90% of Al2O3, and its main crystalline phase is corundum. corundum castable is composed of tabular corundum aggregate, fines and high alumina binder. Based on different applications, various kinds of ingredients can be added into corundum castable to enhance its thermal, chemical and mechanical performances. For example, chrome corundum castable which has high refractoriness can be applied in carbon black furnace, coal gasifier lining. zirconia corundum castable which has excellent glass corrosion resistance is suitable for glass kiln. Composite corundum castable with specific composition can be used for various industrial kilns and furnaces such as cement rotary kiln, nonferrous metal smelting furnace, steel industry and so on.

Corundum Castable Application
Corundum castable has a wide range of application in various kinds of industrial kilns and furnaces, one main application of corundum castable is iron and steel industry. For example, for the casting of steel ladle working lining, sliding nozzle valve and tapping nozzle, long nozzle, submerged nozzle, tornado tank working lining, purging plug, pocket brick, iron runner and the integral casting of electric arc furnace cover triangle zone. Other applications of corundum castable are rotary kiln front mouth, coal injection tube, circulating fluidized bed boiler, RH furnace immersion tube outer lining, petrochemical industry high temperature catalytic cracking reactor working lining, etc.
Corundum castable made from sintered high alumina bauxite and fused corundum are widely used in power plant circulating fluidized bed boiler, sometimes, black silicon carbide is added into it, high purity calcium aluminate cement added with silica micro powder is usually used as binder.
Corundum castable used in alumina suspension roasting furnace is similar to that used in circulating fluidized bed boiler, but there is no silicon carbide in the ingredients. The high strength abrasion resistant castable used in petrol refining catalytic cracking equipment adopts fused or sintered white corundum (or tabular alumina ) as aggregate, high purity calcium aluminate (added with reactive alumina) is used binding agent.
Corundum castable refractory used in heating furnace tapping spout are composed of fused corundum( brown corundum or sub-white corundum) aggregate, fused corundum powder, a-Al2O3 micro powder, SiO2 micro powder, Cr2O3 micro powder( or zircon micro powder) and high purity calcium aluminate cement.
