Chrome Corundum Brick

Chrome corundum bricks have better high temperature performance than corundum bricks, Cr2O3 and Al2O3 can form alumina chrome spinel solid solution at high temperature, therefore glass phase viscosity of chrome corundum brick is increased, glass liquid corrosion resistance is greatly improved. Most often used chrome corundum bricks contains 9%~15% Cr2O3, principle mineral composition is α-Al2O3-Cr2O3 solid solution, subordinate mineral composition is small amount of composite spinel.

Based on raw material type, chrome corundum bricks are classified into sintered chrome corundum bricks and fused cast chrome corundum bricks. Fused cast chrome corundum bricks are further classified into different grades according to Cr2O3 content.

Cr2O3 melting point is 2350℃, true density is 5.23g/cm3, linear expansion coefficient is 9.0*10-6/℃, thermal conductivity is 2.6~2.8W/(m·K).  Cr2O3 belongs to neutral refractory, it has good acid corrosion resistance and alkali corrosion resistance.

Chrome Corundum Bricks Application

Chrome corundum bricks have the best glass liquid erosion resistance and coal molten slag corrosion resistance among all refractory materials, so they are widely used in water coal slurry ammonia synthesizing gasifier, large capacity glass kilns and glass fiber kilns. In steel industry, chrome corundum bricks’ service life is one time longer than corundum bricks. In nonferrous metals smelting industry, chrome corundum bricks’ abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance is significantly better than other bricks. Chrome corundum bricks are also widely used at carbon black furnaces, petrochemical industry, middle and large scale fertilizer factory gasifying furnace, high pressure and strong reduction atmosphere condition and so on. The service life of chrome corundum brick is significantly longer than corundum bricks.
