HP Graphite Electrodes Definition
High power graphite electrodes (EGP-HP) are manufactured for operation at currents not exceeding 18-25 A / cm2. Graphite electrode HP mainly made of petroleum coke and needle coke, coal tar pitch as binder,calcined,compounded,kneaded,pressed,calcined,graphitized, machined is released in the form of electric arc in electric arc furnace and conductor that heats and melts the charge.The high power graphite electrode for arc furnace is produced by high quality petroleum coke (or low-level needle coke). Sometimes the graphite electrode body needs to be immersed, specification are higher than ordinary power graphite electrodes, such as low resistivity, allowing a large current density.
Graphite Electrodes HP Application
Graphite electrodes HP are mainly used in electric Arc furnace steel making. In arc electric furnace steel making, a graphite electrode is used to introduce a current into the arc furnace, a strong electric current is arc discharged by a gas at the lower end of the electrode, the heat generated by the arc is used for smelting. According to the size of the electric furnace, graphite electrodes for Arc furnace of different diameters are used.
