Chrome Corundum Castable Application in Melting Furnace
 
1.The melting furnace is operated under intermittent conditions. The maximum temperature in the furnace is usually 1400~1600°C, occasionally more than the refractory castable max service high temp 1700°C, the temperature of the metal layer in the lower part of the slag line is also 1200~1300°C. They are all high temperature areas. Therefore, the melting furnace mainly uses ultra-high temperature chrome corundum brick or chrome corundum castable as a lining.
 
2.In the actual melting furnace, chrome corundum castables with a Cr2O3 content of 10% are used in the slightly eroded areas, chrome corundum castables with a Cr2O3 content of 20%~30% are used in the severely eroded areas, particularly severe slag openings are eroded. The chrome corundum castable with a Cr2O3 content of 60% is used.
 
3. Chrome corundum refractory castable should be noted that about 5% of monoclinic ZrO2 is added to the high-chromium Cr2O3-Al2O3 refractory for the melting furnace, in order to improve the thermal shock resistance of the material and prolong refractory castable service life.
